Peripheral Artery Disease and the Case for Aggressive Lipid Management
PAD is often underdiagnosed and undertreated. Evidence increasingly supports intensive lipid lowering as a cornerstone of comprehensive vascular care.

Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) shares the same atherosclerotic biology as coronary artery disease, yet it frequently receives less attention. Patients with PAD are at significantly elevated risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, and cardiovascular death.
A Comprehensive Approach
Management extends beyond revascularisation — renal angioplasty, carotid intervention, and renal denervation are important tools, but lifestyle modification, antiplatelet therapy, and aggressive lipid lowering are equally critical.
The evidence for high-intensity statin therapy and newer lipid-lowering agents in atherosclerotic disease continues to strengthen, making early identification and treatment of PAD a public health imperative.
