Cardiac RhythmManagement

Dr. Godbole provides comprehensive care for patients with heart rhythm disorders, including implantation and long-term management of a full range of cardiac rhythm devices. He established and runs a dedicated Pacemaker Clinic at Manipal Hospital (formerly Vikram Hospital), Millers Road, for ongoing device follow-up and care.

Pacemakers

Conventional pacemaker generator and leads implanted in the heart

Pacemakers are implanted to treat slow or abnormal heart rhythms, restoring a regular, coordinated heartbeat. The procedure involves placing a small device, connected to one or more leads, under the skin near the collarbone.

Pacemaker implantation is a well-established procedure with a high success rate, and patients are followed closely to ensure the device continues to function optimally over time.

Leadless Pacemakers

Leadless pacemaker capsule implanted in the right ventricle of the heart

Leadless pacemakers represent a significant advance in pacing technology. These miniaturized devices are implanted directly inside the heart via a catheter, without the leads or chest incision required for conventional pacemakers, reducing certain long-term complications.

Dr. Godbole is an experienced proctor for the Medtronic Micra leadless pacemaker, offering patients access to the latest options in this technology.

Implantable Defibrillators (ICDs)

Cardiac rhythm care supporting implantable defibrillator therapy

ICDs continuously monitor the heart's rhythm and deliver a corrective electrical therapy if a life-threatening rapid rhythm is detected. They are recommended for patients at risk of sudden cardiac arrest, including many with significant heart failure or prior heart attack.

ICD implantation, programming, and long-term follow-up are provided as part of a structured rhythm management program.

Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy (CRT)

CRT pacemaker with three leads coordinating the heart's chambers

CRT is a specialized form of pacing used in patients with heart failure and specific abnormalities of the heart's electrical conduction. By coordinating the contraction of the heart's chambers, CRT can meaningfully improve symptoms, exercise capacity, and survival.

CRT devices are available in both pacemaker (CRT-P) and defibrillator (CRT-D) forms, selected based on individual patient needs.
